About 85 students gather on Sewanee's Cumberland Plateau campus for two weeks of morning workshops (capped at 12 students each) in fiction, poetry, songwriting, literary nonfiction, or fantasy, with one-on-one conferences and evening readings. Applicants in 9th through 11th grade (and not yet 18 at the time of the conference) submit a writing sample in their genre of interest, a statement of purpose, and a teacher recommendation. Need-based aid and the full-tuition Elizabeth Grammer Scholarship are available; a separate six-week online Winterim ($500, Jan-Feb) offers a lower-cost, asynchronous alternative with rolling admission from September.
