The Governor's Honors Academy brings about 175 academically driven rising seniors to West Virginia University for three weeks of residential study, with each county nominating up to two students through a two-part application that includes a teacher recommendation, transcripts, and counselor and principal sign-off. Applicants need at least a 3.5 GPA or top-10% class rank and no grades below a C. State funds cover tuition, activities, books, and instructional materials, leaving families responsible only for insurance, travel, and personal expenses.
