Teams of high schoolers take a timed 30-question online exam covering micro/macroeconomics and the global economy, with no economics course required beforehand. There are two divisions — Adam Smith (for AP/IB/Honors or returning competitors) and David Ricardo (for first-timers who've had at most one econ course). Top-scoring teams advance from the online preliminary to state competition, then National Semifinals and Finals.
