TEAMS has teams of four to six students tackle a real-world engineering theme through four components: a research essay, a hands-on design/build challenge, a 40-question multiple-choice engineering exam, and a mathematical-modeling exam. Teams compete in a state competition window each winter; top-scoring teams nationally are invited to the National TEAMS Competition, held alongside the National TSA Conference. TSA membership is not required to enter, though TSA chapters get a discount.
