AEOP places high school students in paid internships at university research labs and Army Research Laboratories across the country, working alongside a professional STEM mentor on real research. There is no application fee, and every intern receives an educational stipend (the amount depends on the specific location and duration). Positions are mostly full-time and summer-based, though some part-time academic-year roles exist; students need to be able to commute, since transportation, meals, and housing aren't provided. Applicants must be currently enrolled in high school (or have graduated within the last 60 months) and be U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents.
