Housed in Princeton's Emma Bloomberg Center for Access and Opportunity, the Princeton Summer Journalism Program admits up to 40 high school juniors from limited-income backgrounds each May. Students complete a multi-week summer intensive on current events and journalism led by Princeton professors, professional journalists, and alumni, culminating in a 10-day residential stay on campus and the publication of the Princeton Summer Journal. Each student is then matched with a college adviser who helps build a college list, revise essays, and choose a school through the end of senior year. Founded in 2002, the program has served more than 600 students and is entirely free.
