Seattle Children's Research Training Program (RTP) introduces current 10th and 11th graders to laboratory research over four weeks, covering topics like biochemistry, immunology, gene editing, and infectious disease through labs, lectures, workshops, and an independent project. It's free to participate, with a $2,000 stipend to offset transportation and meal costs, and it's built for students who can commute to Seattle Children's. With lab capacity for 24 students and far more applicants than spots, the program is competitive, and the application requires one letter of recommendation. The 2026 program ran July 13-August 7; the 2026 application closed March 8, and the 2027 dates and application are posted in late 2026.
