BU RISE places rising high school seniors in Boston University research labs, or in science and engineering firms through its practicum track, for six weeks of hands-on work with a faculty or industry mentor. Admission is competitive and weighs grades, course rigor, essays, and a STEM recommendation letter; standardized test scores were optional for the 2026 cycle. There's a $75 nonrefundable application fee, program tuition is not published on the main page, and need-based financial aid is available. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
