Whataburger Family Foundation Scholarship

The Whataburger Family Foundation Scholarship Fund supports Whataburger and franchisee employees (called Family Members, with at least six months of continuous employment) and their dependents pursuing trade school, community college, a four-year degree, or graduate study. Awards are need-based rather than merit-based and are granted twice a year; applicants need at least a 2.5 GPA and a high school diploma or GED (including students on track to graduate). The fund has awarded nearly $10 million in scholarships since 2003. Fund administration moved from the San Antonio Area Foundation to the Austin Community Foundation in 2026; exact 2026-27 application dates have not been publicly posted by either administrator.
