Funded by a $2.145 million gift from URI Board of Trustees Chair Margo Cook and her spouse Renee Cohen — $1.82 million of which launched the program itself — the Cook-Cohen Scholars Program is one of URI's newest full-ride scholarships, first awarded to the class entering in fall 2026. It covers tuition, fees, housing, dining, and a Winter J-Term global travel experience for four years, is open to any field of study, and connects scholars to URI's Honors Program, Leadership Institute, priority registration, and donor mentoring. No separate application is needed beyond URI's regular admission application.
DemographicsRequires admission to University of Rhode Island; highly selective, automatic consideration through the standard admission application, no separate form.
Four-year award; also includes a Winter J-Term global travel experience and Honors Program access.
