The Catholic Daughters of the Americas awards one $1,000 scholarship each year to a member of its youth auxiliary, the Junior Catholic Daughters of the Americas (JCDA), who is Catholic and entering her freshman year of college. Applicants must have been JCDA members for at least two years immediately before applying (no relative needs to be a CDA member) and must submit a roughly 300-word essay along with lists of JCDA, church, and community/school activities and three character-reference letters from a priest, deacon, religious, or catechetical leader, a school or religious teacher, and another adult. Entries are typically postmarked by April 1 each year, with winners posted on the CDA website by mid-August; check the site for the 2027 cycle.
