Funded by the Cobell settlement, this scholarship supports enrolled members of federally recognized American Indian tribes or Alaska Native Corporations pursuing an associate's or bachelor's degree full-time at an accredited, nonprofit institution. New applicants can receive up to $5,000/year and returning scholars up to $8,000/year; there is no minimum GPA (though 3.25+ is described as competitive) and no financial-need requirement. The application requires a personal statement/essay and one reference, and applicants must reapply annually since awards are not automatically renewed. Eligibility is built around being enrolled in or admitted to an accredited postsecondary program, so a graduating high school senior with a college acceptance can apply during the application window.
