The AWS Foundation's National Scholarships fund more than 130 donor-funded awards, totaling over $700,000 and ranging from $2,500 to $10,000 or more, for students pursuing an associate or bachelor's degree in welding or a closely related discipline. Applicants submit a transcript (a high school transcript qualifies for students who haven't yet started coursework at their new school), two letters of recommendation, and personal-statement essays on their background, welding or work experience, and career goals. Some individual named awards also require AWS student membership or demonstrated financial need.
