The New York State Elks Association gives $1,000 a year to college-bound seniors who are children or step-children of a dues-paying New York Elks member, with a separate $500-a-year track for those headed to a trade or vocational program. You'll first complete the Elks National Foundation's Most Valuable Student application, then submit New York's cover page through the lodge where your parent holds membership. Applications are judged on knowledge, charity, community service, and integrity.
