The Chicago Star Scholarship is a last-dollar award that covers tuition and required books or class materials at any of the seven City Colleges of Chicago, on top of whatever federal or state aid a student already qualifies for. It's open to graduating seniors from Chicago Public Schools or one of 11 Big Shoulders Fund Catholic partner high schools who finish with at least a 3.0 GPA (GPAs are not rounded up, so a 2.99 does not qualify). Students apply through the City Colleges admissions portal, complete the FAFSA, and register for classes; the scholarship can be used for up to three years toward an associate degree or certificate, with a bachelor's degree possible at no cost through certain partner four-year universities.
DemographicsMust be a graduating senior from a Chicago Public School or one of 11 designated Big Shoulders Fund Catholic partner high schools in Chicago; not open to students outside those Chicago schools.
Last-dollar award covering City Colleges of Chicago tuition and required books/materials not covered by other aid; usable within 3 years of graduation.
