The Kalamazoo Promise pays up to 100% of tuition and mandatory fees at more than 60 eligible Michigan colleges, universities, and trade schools for graduates of Kalamazoo Public Schools. Coverage is a sliding scale based on how long you've lived in the KPS district and attended KPS continuously: 100% if enrolled since kindergarten, stepping down to 65% for students who started in 9th grade (enrolling in 10th grade or later does not qualify). You apply through KPS during senior year and must maintain a 2.0 GPA in college to keep the scholarship, which covers up to four years or 145 credits.
DemographicsMust reside within the Kalamazoo Public Schools district itself (not just attend KPS) and be continuously enrolled as a KPS student for all of high school through graduation, class of 2006 or later.
Sliding scale by years of continuous KPS enrollment: 100% from kindergarten down to 65% starting in 9th grade; covers up to 4 years / 145 credits. A 2.0 college GPA is required to maintain the award.
