The Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh's scholarship service, run through JFCS Pittsburgh, checks a single application against more than 70 individually named endowed funds and cooperating organizations, and awards each qualifying student whichever ones fit. It's open to Jewish high school seniors, as well as college and graduate students, who have lived for at least two years in Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Lawrence, Washington, or Westmoreland County. One additional fund, the Sarah and Tena Goldstein Memorial Scholarship, also covers Clarion, Crawford, Erie, Mercer, or Venango County. Financial need is required — families above roughly 5 times the federal poverty level or with over $250,000 in investable assets generally don't qualify. Award amounts vary by fund and aren't published in advance.
