The Heyl Scholarship covers full tuition for STEM majors at Kalamazoo College (or nursing at Western Michigan University's Bronson School of Nursing), and is open to seniors from Kalamazoo Central or Loy Norrix high schools, students earning a Kalamazoo Area Math and Science Center certificate, homeschoolers meeting the same criteria, and Kalamazoo Public Schools alumni. It requires an overall high school GPA of 3.5 or higher, plus a separate Heyl Scholarship application, official transcripts, and evaluations from one or two science/math teachers. Kalamazoo College-bound applicants need their materials in by the college's November 1 Early Action deadline; the Heyl program's own general annual deadline is December 1.
