Each year, the United States Senate Youth Program brings two student leaders from every state, the District of Columbia, and the Department of Defense Education Activity to Washington, D.C. for a week of briefings with U.S. Senators, Cabinet members, and federal agency heads -- delegates typically also meet the President and a Supreme Court Justice. The Hearst Foundations cover all travel, lodging, and meals, and every delegate receives a $12,500 undergraduate scholarship. Applicants must be high school juniors or seniors actively serving in a high-level elected or appointed leadership role in student government or a civic or educational organization. Apply through your school's principal or your state's selection administrator -- deadlines are set by each state and typically fall in September or October.
