The Association of Illinois Electric Cooperatives awards nineteen $3,000 scholarships each year to graduating high school seniors whose household is served by an Illinois electric cooperative (eighteen go to children of cooperative members; the nineteenth, the Earl W. Struck Memorial Scholarship, goes to a child of a cooperative employee or director). Applicants submit two 500-word essays -- one on the impact of cooperatives in their community, one on personal character -- along with GPA converted to a 100-point scale. The online application must be completed in a single sitting and is due December 31, 2026.
Demographics18 of the 19 awards go to children of Illinois electric cooperative members; the 19th (Earl W. Struck Memorial Scholarship) goes to a child of a cooperative employee or director.
