Virginia's Knights of Columbus councils fund the Rev. Michael J. Bader Memorial Scholarship for graduating seniors who are the children or grandchildren of a council or assembly member in good standing, along with teen members of affiliated Squires and Squire Rose Circles. Awards are one-time, first-year college scholarships judged on the whole applicant rather than any single factor, and no essay is required (a resume is strongly recommended). From 2010 through 2025 the statewide fund — supported by 65 councils across 33 districts — awarded 163 scholarships totaling $238,775, an average of just over $1,500 each, sent directly to the student's college.
