The American Legion Department of Oklahoma runs a High School Oratorical Contest open to any U.S. citizen or legal resident enrolled in grades 9-12 (including accredited home school) who is domiciled in or attends school in Oklahoma. Students deliver a prepared oration on the U.S. Constitution plus an unrehearsed response to an assigned topic, advancing from local posts through the Oklahoma Department final. Oklahoma's Department winner receives a $2,000 scholarship and advances to the national contest, where finalists can win $20,000 to $25,000, and runners-up who advance partway also receive additional scholarship money. There is no entry fee.
