American Legion Auxiliary Department of Oregon Scholarship

The American Legion Auxiliary Department of Oregon gives a one-year $1,000 grant to help a veteran's child, a veteran's widow, or the spouse of a disabled veteran pay for an accredited community college or four-year college. Selection weighs ability, aptitude, character, determination, seriousness of purpose, and financial need, and requires a one-page essay plus four letters of recommendation. The grant must be used within a year, does not renew, and applications are due March 1 to the applicant's local Auxiliary unit.
