This $1,000 scholarship from the American Legion Auxiliary's Department of Vermont goes to one graduating senior selected through a local ALA Unit (each Unit may forward only one applicant to the Department). Judges weigh character and leadership, financial need, and overall academic record. Applicants need an official transcript, SAT or ACT scores, a FAFSA or Student Aid Report, and three letters of recommendation — one from a high school principal or guidance counselor (noting class rank and GPA) and two from non-relative adults who can speak to their character.
DemographicsOpen to any graduating Vermont high school senior nominated by their local American Legion Auxiliary Unit (one nominee per Unit); no Legion/Auxiliary family membership required.
