The Homer Fund's Orange Scholars program awards $1,000-$2,500 scholarships to the legal dependents (children) of full- or part-time hourly Home Depot associates, including The Home Depot Canada and Mexico, who have worked at the company at least a year. Applicants must be a current high school senior or college freshman, sophomore, or junior planning to enroll full-time at a nonprofit two- or four-year college, university, or trade school (for-profit schools are not eligible). Financial need is weighted most heavily, alongside academic performance, community involvement, and leadership. Since 2006 the program has awarded nearly $42 million to more than 18,000 students.
