South Carolina Farm Bureau's Youth Ambassador Scholarship Program, run by its Women's Leadership Committee, selects one male and one female Youth Ambassador each year through a statewide competition: a scored application, narrative, and 500-word essay (built around an annual agricultural theme and requiring an interview with a farmer or agribusiness professional), followed by in-person interviews and a two-minute oral presentation at the SCFB Annual Meeting in December. Each Ambassador receives a $2,000 scholarship, paid to their school on certification of enrollment after completing a year of service representing SCFB at events statewide, plus advocacy and leadership training paid for by SCFB. Applicants must be unmarried, ages 17-21, and reside in a South Carolina Farm Bureau member household; children/stepchildren of SCFB Federation or affiliate employees and past state winners are not eligible.
