This $500 grant from the Connecticut Department of the American Legion Auxiliary's Past Presidents' Parley helps a child, grandchild, or great-grandchild of a longtime Legion or Auxiliary member pay for education beyond high school. Priority goes to descendants of a woman who served in the military and was a member for at least three years; if too few of those apply, it opens to descendants of any three-year Legion, Auxiliary, or Sons of the American Legion member. At least one grant each year is reserved for a student entering a nursing program. Applicants must be 23 or younger, show financial need, and submit a current transcript, two letters of recommendation, a list of school and community activities, and a short essay on their future goals.
