AGU's David E. Lumley Young Scientist Scholarship gives a $1,000 college scholarship, plus a separate $500 grant toward attending (in person or virtually) the AGU Annual Meeting, to a high school or undergraduate student who is first author on an energy- or environmental-science research paper accepted for presentation at that meeting. Applicants submit their meeting abstract first, then a personal statement on their career goals and a recommendation letter from a professor or research advisor. Open to any high school grade, not just seniors -- the scholarship window runs annually from roughly July 2 through August 12.
