This $500 scholarship from the American Legion, Department of Nebraska, supports students enrolling full-time at an accredited Nebraska college, university, or technical school. Applicants must be the child, grandchild, great-grandchild, adopted child, or stepchild of an American Legion Department of Nebraska member, or of a veteran who was a Legion member at the time of death, including POW, MIA, or KIA. The application asks for a short essay on the applicant's chosen career field; no recommendation letters or transcripts should be sent. Selection weighs academic achievement, extracurricular activities, and financial need, and funds are sent to the school for tuition, fees, books, or room and board.
