Formerly known as the 'EngineerGirl Essay Contest,' this annual National Academy of Engineering contest is now co-branded EngineerGirl/EngineerTeen. It is open to individual students, no matter their background or identity, across three grade tiers — elementary (3-5), middle (6-8), and high school (9-12). The 2026 theme, 'The Art of Engineering,' asked entrants for an original artwork plus a written statement on how engineers improve the world. Prizes are $1,000/$750/$500 for 1st/2nd/3rd place, awarded separately within each grade-tier category, and it is free to enter.
