Graduating seniors take a short eligibility quiz in the Foundation's online portal, which then matches them to the specific donor-named funds they qualify for instead of requiring a separate application per fund. Awards are granted through named funds such as the Triangle Scholarship Fund and the Benjamin F. Ward Scholarship, with GPA floors and focus areas (financial need, community service, specific majors) that vary by fund. The Foundation grants roughly 130-150 scholarships a year across its service area. There is no fee to apply.
DemographicsOpen to graduating high school seniors who are permanent residents of Wake, Durham, Orange, Chatham, or Person County, NC; each donor fund can add its own further requirements.
Most high-school-senior funds run $2,500 to $10,000 a year (some renewable up to four years); a few specialized funds pay more.
