The National Federation of the Blind awards thirty $10,000 scholarships each year to legally blind students based on academic excellence, community service, and leadership, not financial need. Finalists must attend the entire NFB National Convention, where NFB covers travel assistance and winners are announced at the closing banquet. NFB membership is not required to apply, and applicants may reapply in future years if not selected.
DemographicsMust be legally blind in both eyes (visual acuity of 20/200 or less with correction, or a visual field of 20 degrees or less), 18 years old by the convention date, and a resident of one of the fifty states, D.C., or Puerto Rico.
