Funded by the John Deere Foundation, the John Deere Scholars program pays the full annual cost of tuition, fees, room, and board at the University of Iowa for about 20 Davenport Community School District seniors a year, renewable for all four years. It's open to any qualifying Davenport senior with financial need — there's no requirement to be connected to a John Deere employee. Students take part in a year-long college-readiness program alongside the scholarship, then apply with a 500-700 word essay, two letters of recommendation, and a panel interview; a STEM focus is preferred but not required.
