The JACL Cleveland Chapter and the Cleveland Japanese American Foundation jointly fund a scholarship for graduating seniors living in Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage, or Summit County, Ohio, who have been accepted to a college, university, or trade school. You can qualify either as a JACL member (or the dependent of one) or simply as a U.S. citizen of Japanese descent, so no membership purchase is required to be eligible. The award amount is set by the sponsors each year, and applicants submit transcripts, a recommendation letter, and a short personal statement.
DemographicsOpen to residents of 7 Greater Cleveland counties who are JACL members/dependents or U.S. citizens of Japanese descent; heritage alone qualifies without any membership purchase.
