Created in memory of Nevada broadcaster and education advocate Jim Rogers, this fund awards roughly $100,000 in new scholarships each year to graduating seniors from Clark County School District public high schools. Applicants need a minimum 3.0 unweighted GPA and must have completed the SAT or ACT. Awards range from $5,000 to $25,000 per year and can renew for up to four years toward tuition at any U.S. college, university, community college, or vocational/technical program. Reviewers weigh family income, extracurricular and community involvement, and a 300-500 word personal essay alongside GPA, with two letters of recommendation also required.
DemographicsOpen only to current high school seniors enrolled in a public school within the Clark County School District (greater Las Vegas metro area).
11 renewable awards each year as currently structured: one at $25,000/yr, five at $10,000/yr, and five at $5,000/yr, each renewable up to 4 years; actual awards have run higher in some recent years.
