The Vermont Elks Association's Roger J. Sheridan Memorial Scholarship honors a longtime Vermont coach and basketball official. Two awards go out each year — one to a graduating male senior and one to a graduating female senior — who plan to study physical education, athletic training, physical therapy, or a similar field. Each award is a one-year, non-renewable grant guaranteed to exceed $500, with the exact amount set annually by the Trust Fund's trustees. Applicants submit an official high school transcript, a signed essay about their post-graduation plans, and two recommendation letters — one from a high school official and one from a coach or athletic director.
