American Legion Department of South Dakota Scholarship

The American Legion's South Dakota Department funds an educational scholarship for South Dakota residents, administered through the South Dakota Community Foundation. It's open to veterans themselves, or to the children or grandchildren of a veteran connected to the South Dakota American Legion, who can demonstrate financial need. Award amounts vary depending on what the voluntarily-funded pool has available that year, and it's a one-time award rather than a renewable scholarship. Applications go through the Community Foundation's online portal by March 15.
