The South Carolina Teaching Fellows Program, funded by the SC General Assembly since 1999 and administered by CERRA, awards up to $6,000 a year for four years (up to $24,000 total, including $300/year for summer enrichment) to South Carolina high school seniors planning to teach. Applicants need a minimum 2.8 cumulative GPA and submit an online application, transcript, and two references each fall, with materials due December 1. Roughly 500 applicants advance to statewide interviews in February, where finalists also write an essay in response to a prompt; up to 200 Fellows are selected annually based on academic achievement, community service, and a demonstrated desire to teach. Recipients commit to teaching in a South Carolina public school for one year per year of funding received; DACA students are not eligible.
