The Golden Apple Foundation selects Illinois high school seniors (and Illinois college freshmen/sophomores) with the drive to become outstanding teachers, providing up to $23,000 in tuition, fee, and room-and-board assistance plus paid summer Scholar Institutes across the college years. In exchange, Scholars commit to earning an education degree and teaching for five years in an Illinois school-of-need within seven years of graduating. Admission uses holistic review of coursework, GPA trend, and personal statements rather than a strict cutoff, and recipients must keep a 2.5 GPA to continue in the program.
