The Governor's Merit Scholarship provides up to $5,000 per year, renewable for up to four years of full-time enrollment, to Ohio residents who graduate in the top 5% of their public or chartered nonpublic high school class. Public and chartered nonpublic students are identified automatically by their school and notified by November 1; no application is required. Homeschooled and dropout-recovery students may instead qualify through an ACT/SAT-based application submitted via the online portal by October 1. Accepted recipients must confirm their award online by May 15 or it is rescinded.
