The Women Marines Association (WMA) funds nine named Memorial Scholarships worth $500 to $5,000 each, depending on the number of applicants and funds available, with no lifetime cap on how much one person can receive. Eligible applicants have served in the U.S. Marine Corps or Marine Corps Reserve themselves, are a direct descendant, sibling, stepchild, or spouse of someone who has, or have completed two years of Marine Corps JROTC or the Young Marines program -- and must be sponsored by a current WMA member in good standing (WMA will try to find a sponsor for applicants who don't have one, if requested by March 1). High school seniors need a 3.0 unweighted GPA, an official transcript, a letter of college acceptance, two professional letters of reference, and two short essays. Applications are accepted only from February 1 through March 31 each year.
