The Semmes Distinguished Scholars in Science award covers full tuition plus a $5,000 annual stipend for research, professional travel, and materials, for two or three incoming first-year students each year planning to major in a qualifying STEM field (biology, biochemistry, computer science, engineering science, geosciences, mathematics, neuroscience, physics and astronomy, or psychology). Unlike Trinity's general merit scholarships, Semmes requires its own application and expanded resume in addition to the Trinity admission application, plus applying through Early Decision I or Early Action. A select group of finalists is invited to campus in February for the Semmes evaluation event. The award is renewable annually for up to eight semesters with a 3.0 cumulative GPA and full-time enrollment.
