AAPT awards this scholarship to U.S. high school seniors accepted into a physics-teacher preparation program, as well as undergraduates already enrolled in one, who plan a career teaching high school physics. It pays up to $3,000 per year and can renew for up to four consecutive years, and recipients also receive a complimentary one-year AAPT student membership. Applications require letters of recommendation; there is no published minimum GPA, only evidence the applicant is likely to succeed in physics-teacher coursework. The 2026 application and all references are due by December 1, 2026.
