The Trustees' Merit Scholarship is the highest of the University of Dayton's four automatic first-year merit tiers, worth $31,000 to $34,000 a year toward tuition. Every applicant for first-year admission is automatically evaluated for one of the four tiers based on GPA, test scores if submitted, and course rigor — there's no separate scholarship application, essay, or interview. The award is renewable for all four years (eight semesters) as long as the student stays in good academic standing, and UD is test-optional, so choosing not to submit scores doesn't affect eligibility.
