American Crystal Sugar Company, one of the Red River Valley's largest agricultural employers, awards roughly 100 one-time $1,000 scholarships a year to graduating seniors at high schools across its eastern-North-Dakota and western-Minnesota growing region. About 50 go to seniors headed into a STEM, agriculture, or related undergraduate degree, and another 50 go to seniors entering a technical or vocational program in fields like power generation, packaging, electrical, mechanical, or process technology. A separate track funds scholarships for children of current Crystal Sugar employees. There's no single company-wide deadline — applications are handled through each high school's own counselor's office, so students should ask their counselor when their school's cycle opens and closes.
