The Airmen Memorial Foundation, working with the Air Force Sergeants Association (AFSA), runs a family of named scholarships worth $1,000 to $5,000 for unmarried dependent children of active-duty, retired, or veteran U.S. military members -- most tracks are for Air Force, Air National Guard, and Air Force Reserve enlisted families, but AFSA's own general fund is open to dependents of any service branch. Most tracks require the sponsoring parent or guardian to be age 23-or-younger applicants' sponsor to have been an AFSA/Airmen Memorial Foundation member for at least one year before the March 31 cutoff and require a 3.5 GPA; a separate Chief Master Sergeants of the Air Force (CMSAF) Award track for Air Force/ANG/AFRC enlisted dependents requires no membership at all. One application, available each January, enters students into consideration for all the named funds.
DemographicsSponsor (parent/guardian) must be an AFSA/Airmen Memorial Foundation member in good standing (at least 1 year prior to the March 31 cutoff) for most funds; the no-membership CMSAF Award track is limited to Air Force/ANG/AFRC enlisted dependents. Applicants must generally be age 23 or younger.
Several named funds ($1,000-$5,000) under one Airmen Memorial Foundation/AFSA application; a Barksdale Trade School track offers $1,000-$1,500 with a lower 2.65 GPA bar.
