Oakland Promise's General Scholarship is open to any student graduating from an Oakland district or charter high school with at least a 2.00 unweighted GPA (measured after 11th grade) who can demonstrate financial need — for example, qualifying for free/reduced lunch, being unhoused, being in foster care, or having a FAFSA/CADAA Student Aid Index of $25,000 or less. Recipients get $1,000 per year, plus an additional $2,000 for enrolling directly in a two-year or Career Technical Education program, or $4,000 for enrolling directly in a four-year program. To apply, students submit the online application along with their FAFSA/CA Dream Act summary and an unofficial transcript.
