The Kenneth and Carrie Carns Nursing Scholarship, a Wyoming Community Foundation fund, pays $3,000 toward an associate degree or $5,000 toward a bachelor's degree in nursing for Wyoming residents -- high school graduating seniors, GED recipients, or current postsecondary students -- enrolling full-time at any Wyoming institution with at least a 3.0 GPA. Applicants write two short essays: one on barriers to pursuing nursing, one on their motivation for the field. Recipients may reapply for up to three additional years. It's submitted through the Foundation's common online scholarship portal (opens around October, closes in early March each year); the 2026-27 cycle is already closed, with awards from that round announced by May 5.
