The U.S. Stockholm Junior Water Prize (SJWP) recognizes a high school student or two-student team (grades 9-12, at least age 15 by August 1) for an outstanding water-related research project, judged through regional and state-level competitions that feed into a national final. The U.S. winner receives a $10,000 scholarship and represents the country at the International SJWP each August at World Water Week in Stockholm, where the global winner receives an additional $15,000 plus $5,000 for their school. Self-nomination is permitted and a prior science-fair project is not required.
DemographicsMust have reached age 15 by August 1 of the competition year; requires an original water-science research project entered via state-level affiliate competitions first; teams of up to two students may participate; self-nomination is permitted.
The U.S. national winner receives a $10,000 scholarship. The international winner, chosen among roughly 30 countries, separately receives $15,000 plus $5,000 for their school.
