DC College Access Program (DC CAP), a Washington DC 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1999, awards $5,000-$7,500 per year (renewable for up to five years) to DC public and public charter high school seniors who are admitted to one of DC CAP's partner universities and complete the FAFSA. Selection prioritizes financial need -- applicants must demonstrate DC TAG and Federal Pell Grant eligibility -- and must have at least a 2.5 cumulative high school GPA, live in DC, and attend a DC public or public charter school. Partner universities layer on additional institutional aid on top of the DC CAP award. Students register in October, submit their application (transcript and FAFSA info) in January, and final matches are announced in spring; scholarship offers are tied to the matched institution and cannot be transferred elsewhere.
Renewable up to 5 years; can total $20,000-$37,500+ over a bachelor's degree, plus added aid from the partner university.
